This is the "blog" of Dr. Rodney Mckay from the TV Show: Stargate Atlantis. It is being used for roleplay purposes in the LJ community Prohibeo Opulentia by TehOpheliac. No one is making a profit or claiming to own Rodney Mckay. This blog is supposed to look like it was writen by and in the point of view of Rodney Mckay.
All of the information in the below profile is not necessarily true about the real Rodney Mckay from the TV Show. More information has been added (giving him a darker, more twisted past) because I am an angst slut. I've also gone and made him bisexual. He leans more towards men then women (like Sheppard or Dex).
This Rodney is a switch. That means he has the potential to be either a dominant (seme) or a submissive (uke), depending on the situation he is in. Chances are that he's going to be submissive unless he's paired with someone who's easily pushed around (like Zelenka). He may also top Sheppard in the rare occasion he's given permission to.

Dislikes: Children, Whales (one of his biggest fears), Wraith, Incompetence.
Regrets: Never seeing Niagara Falls, Grease, Ghandi and not being closer to his sister.
Medical "Problems": hypochondriac, hypoglycemia, restless leg syndrome, allergy to bee stings and citrus fruit, claustrophobia.
Family & Friends: Jeannie Miller (sister), Madison Miller (niece). John Sheppard (even if he is a bit of an ass), Carson Beckett (closest thing to a best friend), Teyla Emmagan, Ronon Dex. Todd ? (They work well together).
Background: Rodney comes from an abusive childhood. His parents blamed all of their problems on him and took it out on him. He protected his sister, Jeannie from a similar fate and moved out of the house as soon as he was able to (taking his sister with him).
It was in high school that he learned several important things. One, that he was incredibly smart (a genius, to be exact). Two, that most people suck and can't be trusted (since he was bullied horribly and had little to no friends). Three, as much as he loved the piano, he had no talent for it and would be better off sticking to science. He impressed his teachers in both high school and college so much that he graduated early from both and became one of the youngest people to become stationed at Area 51. He was the premier experts on the Stargate network (an advanced device that creates a wormhole and allows you to travel to different planets and galaxies) outside of Stargate Command.
Years later, he was privileged with being chosen to go on the expedition to Atlantis (in the Pegasus Galaxy), serving as chief scientific adviser and leading expert on the Ancients (the ancient aliens who made the stargate). He was later assigned to be on John Sheppard's exploration team where together, they use the stargate to travel to new worlds and meet the locals. More often then not, he is forced to battle and kill off (once he became good enough with a gun- he's a scientist, after all) Wraith (think space vampires), Replicators (highly advanced androids) and angry natives. He has been captured, kidnapped, tortured, and forced to work for / do things he would never consider normally.
Rodney is one of the most arrogant, condescending, and annoying people you will ever meet. He tends to find anyone who is not of his level of intellect stupid and is not afraid to say so. At first glance, he seems cowardly (he puts on a brave front but the second you threaten him he crumbles) and only out to save himself. Given the proper chance, he has been known to perform acts of extraordinary heroism. He comes up with his best ideas when he's under the threat of death. He's a hypochondriac and has told people that he has hypoglycemia, has restless leg syndrome, and is allergic to bee stings and citrus fruit. However, none of this has ever been proven.
Despite how irritating he is, most people tend to like him after they get to know him. It usually takes awhile for people to understand that most of his shortcomings are actually a defensive mechanism he created early on in his life to distance himself from people and protect himself.
